Bramber were chosen to complete an extensive country house conversion, extension and internal alterations to this spectacular family home in Cowfold, West Sussex. The end result is a modern family home that has respected the history of the building.
The existing home comprised several small rooms to the ground floor arranged around a central real stone courtyard – the conversion sought to remove many of the existing internal walls, which combined with the single storey oak-framed extension created a large open plan living, kitchen and dining area with bifold doors opening onto the rear courtyard. These open plan areas were complemented with the installation of large roof lights.
Key successes of the project included:
- Sourcing and using reclaimed local materials to match the existing building as closely as possible.
- Sandblasting the existing oak frames and retreating.
- Working with our client to ensure family life could continue with minimal disruption whilst the works were in progress.
- Liaising with the Bat Conservation Trust.
- High quality finishes.
During the planning stages we were provided with a range of options, from construction to final finishes; the advice and direction from Bramber helped to keep us close to the budget we had in mind, whilst achieving the high standard of finish we desired.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Bramber to anyone, for any project, and would certainly work with them again in the future if required.Mrs Clark, Stable Court
