Bramber were appointed as the design and build contractor for this new church hall, set in the centre of a mature woodland, adjacent to a local school and busy sports facility. The new hall was a structural steel frame built on pile foundations, with SIPS (structurally insulated panel system) to the walls and roof.
We proactively engaged with the local community as part of this project and took great care to minimise the impact of our building works to the surrounding site, especially as the area is used for walking, recreation, church services as well as for access to the school across our site to the main sports centre.
Key successes of the project included:
- Accommodating all requests from the church not to make noise or have deliveries during church and/or funeral services.
- Working closely with the council’s TPO officer for our works under the canopy of the trees to protect the root systems.
- Create a single point of contact through Bramber’s Site Manager.
- Ensuring the site agent accompanied all lorries through the school grounds together with a banksman on foot.
Working with Bramber was very easy as they were particularly attentive to detail and to the needs of a working church. They were very sensitive to the requirement to stop work during church services, particularly funerals, and were very good at co-operating with the clergy and church officials as required. I would have no personal hesitation in recommending Bramber.R G Hilliard, Associate Rector of St Mary’s, Stoke D’Abernon
