This idyllic farmhouse located in West Sussex was sensitively extended and modernised by Bramber. Our works comprised a new two storey extension to create an additional bedroom and bathrooms to the first floor, together with a new kitchen and orangery to the ground floor.
To ensure our works respected the history of the building, we sourced local materials and used handmade clay tiles as part of the major roof repairs; we also restored the detailed chimney to its former glory with lime mortar.
Using local craftsmen, we commissioned purpose made timber sliding sash windows and external doors. Internally we undertook a complete internal refurbishment as well as installing a complete new heating system.
High quality finishes specified by the client were installed with attention to detail by Bramber, this included flagstone floors throughout the ground floor, hand painted silk wallpaper and handmade kitchen.
Key successes of the project included:
- Sourcing and using reclaimed local materials to match the existing building as closely as possible.
- Using local craftsmen for the specialist finishes.
- Disguising the new foul water treatment plant with planting and landscaping.
