Founded in 1934 by John Christie and his opera singer wife, Audrey Mildmay, Glyndebourne is internationally acclaimed for presenting opera of the highest quality, commissioning new work, developing new talent, and reaching new audiences. As a local contractor, we were delighted when Bramber was chosen to extend and fit out their famous 5-star Middle and Over Wallop Restaurant.
With a pressing construction programme and a high end specification, we were employed to complete this prestigious project in time for the opening of Glyndebourne’s new show schedules in 2015. The project comprised the extension and fit out of their existing kitchen facility, together with the fit out of the new restaurant.
Key successes of the project included:
- Delivering a ‘turn-key’ project.
- Delivering the project in time and ready for the new seasons shows.
- Coordinating the wide range of specialist suppliers and subcontractors that are needed to build a 5-star restaurant, including the furniture through to the glass chandeliers.
- Meeting and exceeding the brief of Executive Chef, Julian Wilson.
Glyndebourne has to be one of my favourite projects! It was a real pleasure to work on such a historical building and on a project where quality was the ultimate driving force.Ro Retnam, Site manager
