Our excellent safety record, together with our robust health and safety policies and procedures ensured that Bramber were selected to build the Environment Agency’s new vehicle depot and flammable storage facility in Pevensey Bay.
This was a challenging project, as the site was very exposed and right next to the sea. Also prior to starting the works, we had to demolish the existing asbestos sheds and remove the concrete slab.
The new building was constructed as a steel frame and clad in cedar wood, with industrial roller shutter doors. Internally, we provided a power floated concrete floor, which was painted. The flammable store was craned in and required to meet all the appropriate COSHH safety standards.
Key successes of the project included:
- The safe removal and disposal of the existing asbestos factory buildings.
- Working safely in an exposed environment.
- Exceeding the Environment Agency’s health and safety requirements.
- Completing the project on time and to budget.
